Staying in a Budget Hotel

Posted in travel by Webmann on December 24, 2007
Hotel accommodation varies widely throughout the world.  From unique one off hotels, to luxury hotels that cost thousands of dollars per room per night, to the big hotel chains that have several buildings in every city, there are as many hotels to stay in as there are types of people who stay in them.

But not everyone has the budget to stay in expensive accommodation for even a single night, let alone a weekend break or a longer holiday.  Luckily there is another alternative that is available in most big cities – the budget hotel.

This type of service is ideal for those who are on business trips. It is also ideal for people who are looking to have a well earned break away, without putting too much of a dent in their pocket.

What Services do Budget Hotels Offer?

Budget hotel rooms are of course going to be a lot more basic than those offered by the bigger and more expensive chains.  However, you shouldn’t dismiss them as being below standard.

If you think about it logically, any holiday spent away from home is mostly spent out and about, exploring your location and doing anything except sitting in your hotel room.  If you are going to use your room as nothing more than a base, a place to sleep and to store your belongings while you are out having fun, then why not consider a budget room?

Some hotels offer a basic room for a cheap price. Additional services you might expect to find as standard in any other hotel are offered as extras which you will pay for only if you require them. This is a good bargain if for example you never eat breakfast, and never take advantage of the free meal included within the price of your room.

Finding a Good Budget Hotel

As always, perhaps the best place to start is to type the phrase “budget hotel” into a search engine to see what comes up.  Some websites are dedicated to providing the best information on budget accommodation in the country.

Of course the cheaper the budget rooms are, the more basic they will be, but this doesn’t mean the service you will receive will be below standard.  Ask around to see if any friends or family members can provide you with any recommendations, before searching online to see what’s available. In short, if you’re looking for a base from which to enjoy a short break, a budget hotel room could provide a way to cut costs while still having a good time.
